No wall mode

After taking down the cards from 2016, I came to the conclusion that I did not want to repeat the process again of posting them to the wall in the bedroom. I really enjoyed the process from the last two years, but decided it would be more interesting to not see the progress throughout the year and then get the surprise of seeing the composition when putting the cards up for the show the following year. It also bestows upon the show a special moment when the cards are together as a group for the last time.

As it is now the third day into this year, I am discovering the joy of the limited color palate and the simplicity and efficiency that comes with that. The colors and forms have a solid and bold feel to them. A consequence of this approach is that a card takes less time to make. Not that spending a lot of time on a card ever bothered me. I always find it odd when people ask me how long it takes to make one card. My only guess this question is a result of our wage slave oriented culture, calculating the productivity units, “is it really worth it?” I guess I am not even in that kind of league, and I am perfectly happy in that.

The time shift gain here is merely a noted trade for the way I am choosing to change my approach to drawing the cards this year. The time not spent on drawing cards will provide for other drawing pursuits. In other words, everything is going according to plan.
